Eyes
my eyes
watching me crushed against the wall
phone clutched tightly to my breast
fingers splayed against the fake wood paneling
screaming
tears streaming
as knees meet chin
gasping for breath
as I lay stranded,
abandoned on the floor.
My best friend is dead
Light fades away
as I
my eyes
watching me crushed against the wall
phone clutched tightly to my breast
fingers splayed against the fake wood paneling
screaming
tears streaming
as knees meet chin
gasping for breath
as I lay stranded,
abandoned on the floor.
My best friend is dead
Light fades away
as I
journey
into
into
grief

I wrote this a couple of years ago for my best friend. He was killed in a helicopter accident while working for Arizona Game and Fish. I need to figure out how this works, because it did not keep the original formatting in which I wrote it...
There are so many layers in this that I didn't see before. The phone call was to my husband (now ex) asking him to come home. He didn't.
